A neat little install creator that lets you create installation programmes for anything. It is a simple setup creator wizard, just follow the steps. The setup programe can be .inf or an executable

Go to start and click Run. Type in : iexpress

MS Paint

In Ms paint, you can magnify 10 *. Just click the line below the 8* magnify and there you have it, 10 *!

Telnet
This is a application that lets you connect to the internet via the command prompt. A funny sight to connect to is this starwars sight: towel.blinkenlights.nl

Clicking on the sight will not work. Go to windows, and press run
Type in : telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl

Msg box

This is pretty fun to mess around with. It will display a message box.

Go to notepad
Type in:
msgbox “your message here. whatever you want”,20,”put message box title here”

Save it to “anything”.vbs

A fun thing to type is, “windows is getting tired of you, please purchase a new windows that will like you” or something like that.

Shutdown Code

This is just basically a shortcut to a computer shutdown. It is easily done. However, the shutdown can only be aborted one way so do not try to do it until you have fully read this.

Right click on your desktop. Press new link.

Type in :

shutdown -s -t 20 -c “anything here”

Press ok twice.

This will now create a shutdown exe on your desktop. Once you have opened it the computer will shutdown in 20 seconds. If you go to windows run and type

Shutdown -a

The thing will go away.

Desktop Prank

You can use this to prank your friend. When he is no looking, press the PrntScrn Button on your keyboard.

Open up paint.
Press cntrl +v
Save to picture somewhere

Now right click on your desktop and press arrange icons.
Untick: Show desktop icons

Right click on your desktop and press properties
Press wall paper
Change the wall paper to the picture you saved earlier.

Now the picture will look like a desktop but it is not clickable! Watch as your friend gets confused!

Note pad trick

There is a glitch in notepad that changes the words you typed into random Chinese syllables.

Type in any word that starts with 4 letters in notepad,

press space type a three letter word,

space again and another three letter word, space again,

finally type a five letter word. Save it to anything. Close it, and open it again.

Just remember it has to be 4-3-3-5

Cool wall paper trick (MsPaint)

To make a very cool wall paper:
Open up Ms Paint
In picture go to properties.
Type in 5 for width and 1 for height.
Magnify it 8 *
Color the pixelswith a pencil.

1 pixel a color.(you should have 5 colors)
Save it to be your desktop. MAKE SURE IT IS CENTERED.
(note: you can do more than 5)

Skype Videophone – ASUS AiGuru S1 is available now

Skype in association with ASUS have jost released the first Skype certified videophone, the ASUS AiGuru SV1 and we’ve got our hands on one of the first units.

Functionality
The ASUS AiGuru SV1 offers full Skype video conferencing facilities with the need of a PC. You can use it for Skype-to-Skype video and voice calls (both free) and as with regular Skype you can call regular landlines and mobiles at discounted rates. You may also use it to make and receive conference calls (3 or more people), however in this mode there will be no video and purely voice.

For me the main use will be when I’m travelling abroad, I’ll leave the videophone at home and be able to have videophone conversations with my family from my laptop, with the only cost being the WiFi connection in the hotel, sweet!

Installation
Installing the AiGuru was a straightforward process. You’ll need an existing broadband Internet connection and you can either connect the videophone via the supplied network cable or wirelessly. The wireless connection is the most convenient but you’ll need to enter any WEP or WPA key via the cursor keys and onscreen keyboard which is a bit fiddly. I’ve noticed it seems to forget the WEP key on occassion and you need to re-enter it, hopefully this will be fixed in a software update.

You can also tweak the display settings (brightness, hue, saturation, etc.) but I found the picture and video quality to be absolutely fine straight out of the box.

Portabilty
You can run the AiGuru straight from the mains, however it does come with a re-chargable battery so you can move it around. The screen housing is adjustable and is both comfortable with placed on a desk or your lap.

USB Disk Ejector is a small and effective tool that allows a user to quickly remove USB devices in Windows. It has the ability to eject any USB device for safe disconnection from the system

Eject the drive that the program is running from.
Eject a drive by specifying a drive letter.
Eject a drive by specifying a drive name.
Eject a drive by specifying a partial drive name.

When run as a ‘normal’ GUI program the tools enables USB devices to be quickly ejected through a mouse click or keyboard press. It’s especially useful when dealing with multiple USB devices and for Vista users who don’t want the ‘now safe to remove this device’ dialog box to appear.
