A couple of days ago new firmware for iphone version 2.2 was released and bring a couple of changes a couple of bug fixes (still there are too many bugs so dont get surprised) some more eye candy, some new icons and 2 new features Google Street View and Podcasts.

One of my friend was able to unlock/jailbreak this new version of firmware and successfully got it working on his iphone 2G so I’ll today enlighten you with the method he described on his blog.

So here we go

1. Download this Pwned / Jailbreaked iphone 2.2 firmware from following links

2. Extract first part with 7zip, winrar or any compression software and you get a single file named iPhone1,1_2.2_5G77_Custom_Restore.ipsw (245mb)

3. Connect iphone to your PC and open iTunes 8 (cancel if it ask you to update your firmware to new version)

4. Back all your iPhone data like contacts, music, video and other media.

5. Hold shift and click Restore and locate the Pwned iPhone 2.2 Firmware.

6. Now wait for the process to be done.

7. Enjoy using pwned / jailbreaked iPhone 2G with firmware 2.2

This method works on PC and MAC both without any extra tools such as WuickPwn and Pwnage tool and works flawlessly without any problem. So happy jailbreaking new firmware iPhone 2.2.

The signs were all pointing to a tomorrow launch of the 2.2 software update for the iPhone — Apple jumped the gun. (Though I guess technically it is November 21st on the east coast of the U.S.) The update is available now through iTunes and it’s actually larger than the big 2.1 software update that Apple pushed out back in September (246.4 megabytes versus 237.8 megabytes).

In terms of what’s included, it’s pretty much what we’ve been expecting, but a few other nice little features. Here’s a quick rundown:
Google Street View in Google Maps
Public transit and walking directions in Google Maps
Display the address of a place when you drop a pin (very cool)
Share your location via email (kind of pointless, I think)
A fix for a scheduled fetching of email bug
Improved stability and performance of Safari
Podcasts can be downloaded right to the iPhone over WiFi or 3G
A decrease in call failures/dropped-calls
Improved sound quality of visual voicemail messages
The ability to return to the main home iPhone screen with the click of the home button (AWESOME)
The ability to turn on and off the keyboard auto-correction feature

Perhaps more important to people is what’s not included: There’s still no cut & paste
functionality, still no MMS functions, still no voice dialing, still no Adobe Flash support, still no way to run apps in the background (and no mention of the ever-upcoming Push Notification system) and still no GPS turn-by-turn directions.

But, for me, the addition of the “return to home screen” functionality by hitting the home button is huge. I have so many apps on my iPhone now that I found myself constantly flicking backwards to get back to do something like send a text message. It was beyond annoying.

Likewise, plenty of people had expressed their hatred of the software’s auto-correct while typing. In fact, I know someone who jailbroke their iPhone just to remove that feature. Now it can be done in the settings.

I’m eager to try out being able to drop a pin somewhere and find out what the address is there. I’ve wanted Google Maps on the web to add such a feature for a while.

And of course, the promise of better voicemail quality and of course fewer dropped calls is always good to hear as well.

MusikCube is an open source MP3 player for the “modern generation”. It helps you just listen to what you want to hear, while offering innovative features not seen elsewhere.

MusikCube is based on an embedded SQL database engine called SQLite. It is a very fast database engine which makes creating Dynamic Playlist easy.

It has an interesting feature where it automatically randomizes the playlist based on your listening habits. The more you listen, the more it becomes smarter.

It also makes transferring audio files to your removable devices. It can automatically detect your MP3 player and can transfer the files to it. Though the interface isn’t like iTunes or Winamp, it looks like a decent player.

But there is only a windows version of it and it can be downloaded from the sourceforge site.

If you’re anything like me, then you probably got angry the first time that you tried to put your favorite DVD on your iPod and nothing worked.

Until now.

First off, you have to understand that the files an iPod recognizes are called MPEG-4 files. The only way to get these are by using iTunes, but iTunes will not recognize the format that a DVD is in..

SO, you need a converter! These programs can be used to convert many type of video files to many other types. For Example, the program I use is called the #1 DVD Ripper

So, once you’ve got your full version of the program, open it up.

Here I will tell you how to get lyrics for your songs in itunes with no hassle.

This article is how to get the lyrics for your songs in itunes with no hassle at all.

First you need to go to http://code.google.com/p/ilyrics/ and click on the featured download link that is on the right side of the website. Wait for it to download. Once it’s downloaded find the program and set it up just keep clicking next.

Once it’s setup open up itunes and select all the songs you want lyrics for by holding ctrl and selecting the songs. Then minimize itunes and open up ilyrics you will have two boxes you can tick and one button. The boxes are update automatically and overwrite. Update automatically will go through all the songs and add lyrics where it can, if you don’t click update automatically you will go through all the songs you selected and edit the lyrics it downloaded before adding them to the song. Overwrite will go through all the songs you have selected and will add lyrics to them even if you have lyrics for that song, I suggest that you use overwrite the first time you use ilyrics because sometimes the songs you have might have things written in the lyrics that aren’t the lyrics. Once you have finished adding the lyrics you can view the lyrics for the song by right clicking on the song and selecting get info then clicking on the lyrics tab and you will have the lyrics there, you can also edit the lyrics from in there if you want to. Also some ipods allow you to view the lyrics.

Ilyrics imports lyrics from http://lyricwiki.org/, using the web services provided by them.
